Rivera Receives COE Staff Award
Michelle Rivera, Coordinator of the COE Instructional Resources Center, received the 2012 Betty-Ware Wray Staff Award. The award annually recognizes a COE staff member who has excelled in job performance and University service, and the recipient receives a plaque and $500 prize. Rivera began in the IRC in 2004 as a graduate student and went on to become the center’s coordinator later that year. She received both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from COE, earning a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education and a Master’s in Instructional Technology. Last year, Rivera was selected to participate in a summer week-long institute at the Library of Congress in Washington, DC. In receiving the award, Chris Thompson, Director of COE’s Student Success Center and chair of the selection committee, cited Rivera’s work improving the IRC and making it a hub of student learning and activity.
The Betty-Ware Wray College of Education Staff Award was established in memory of Betty-Ware Wray by her in-laws. She was a loved and respected member of the COE family for many years.
