Dean's Welcome

Welcome to the College of Education's website. Please use the many links to find out about our faculty, curriculum, degree programs, the centers, special events, and resources for students, faculty, staff and alumni.

Our college is dedicated to the preparation of reflective educators for diverse learners. An extremely professional and expert faculty and staff along with our partner schools and over 600 experienced Clinical Supervisors in public schools work together to offer quality programs for undergraduate and graduate students. The college works in collaboration with Arts and Sciences faculty to ensure quality content preparation of teachers.

Our students participate in extensive field experiences in teacher preparation with an average of 1000 hours in public school classrooms. Undergraduate students are advised by full-time advisement staff in the Student Success Center while graduate students are advised by faculty in their specific program areas. Advanced degree programs are designed for the needs of teachers, school leaders, and school support personnel with off-campus, online and GSAMS (distance learning) courses offered in many of the graduate programs. The college offers low student-faculty and student-supervisor ratios, and it maintains high pass rates on state certification tests.

International opportunities through the college include colloquia organized by the Center for the Study of International Schooling, and recent study abroad programs have been offered in England and Mexico. Student exchanges and educator exchanges are coordinated through the college's International Learning Community--a collaborative effort with universities and schools in the United Kingdom to exchange ideas, information and student teachers.

Housed in a new building since 2001 with state-of-the-art facilities and technology, the college provides an Instructional Resources Center and specialized labs for counselors, school psychologists, and instructional technology specialists.

For our graduates, the college offers beginning teacher and school leader induction programs. School systems can rely on our Program for Assuring Quality guarantee for all of our graduates. We are proud that our graduates--educators, leaders, and service specialists--are sought first by school systems throughout Georgia and the southeastern United States.

We hope you enjoy your virtual tour of the College of Education. If you have comments or questions about this website or if you need additional information, please contact us.
