Dean's Welcome

On behalf of the faculty, staff, and students that are the College of Education, it is my pleasure to welcome you to our web site. If you are visiting us to get information about a specific program, to locate a faculty member, or if you have simply stumbled onto our site, we're so very glad you're here!

Our college is focused on the undergraduate and graduate preparation of reflective educators who are prepared as teachers, school psychologists, counselors, curriculum developers, technology specialists, school administrators, and higher education administrators to work with diverse learners. We believe that the best way to prepare educators is to work closely with schools and other community agencies/organizations. For this reason we maintain a strong network of partner schools in which our faculty, candidates, and the school personnel work together to simultaneously renew educator practices and improve the quality and context of learning for all students.

At the center of our work is a corp of highly committed scholar teachers who continually contribute to the renewal of their profession through a nurturing pedagogy that includes thoughtful teaching and mentoring, shared research, and responsive service.

Guided by our Georgia Center for Educational Renewal, our partnership network extends across campus to other colleges by means of joint research and teaching projects; nationally through our work with other National Network for Educational Renewal Partnership sites; and internationally through our International Learning Community student and teacher exchanges, our Center for International Schooling, and our association with the Sino-American Education Consortium and the International Networking for Educational Transformation.

Our programs span a wide range of undergraduate and graduate offerings, with program delivery that includes, face-to-face, hybrid, and fully online options. Our college is fully accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, and our programs are approved by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission and other specialized professional associations.

Thanks, again, for visiting us virtually. If you came on site looking for specific information and have not found it yet, please contact us at educdean@georgiasouthern.edu. We'll be pleased to assist you. Better yet, pay us a personal visit at our Statesboro campus!

Cordially,

Stephanie L. Kenney
