Consulting

I have extensive experience serving as a resource for faculty on methodological issues in research, such as with survey development, data analysis, sampling, and similar topics. I also provide advice on a regular basis to specialist and doctoral students at Georgia Southern, and serve on dissertation committees in the role of methodologist. In addition, I consult, professionally, with researchers outside Georgia Southern, and with various organizations and groups, some of which I provide below.

Student Ratings Committee, Georgia Southern University (12/98-6/99). I developed two surveys for the ratings committee. One was used to determine faculty perceptions of the student ratings of instruction instrument and its use at GSU for evaluating instruction, and the other was used to determine departmental Chairs’ perceptions of the methods used for evaluating instruction at GSU and how they use this information for administrative decision making.

The Lawton and Rhea Chiles Center for Healthy Mothers and Babies, Department of Community and Family Health, College of Public Health, University of South Florida (2/98 – 8/98). Provided consultative services to the director of evaluation of the federally funded healthy start grant. Services included: review of instruments, review of other consultants’ evaluation designs, recommendations for improvement of instruments and designs, the design of validation plans for instruments, and review of statistical techniques.

Center for Educational Technology, Florida State University, Tallahassee, FL (1992). I developed databases that allowed for the convenient storage and analysis of data related to quality control of public schools in Florida. Principal investigator: Robert Branson.

Kids in Cooperation with Kids, Florida State University, Tallahassee, FL (1992). I was responsible for the statistical analysis of data pertaining to children's attitudes toward substance abuse. Principal Investigator: Steven Rollin.

Learning Systems Institute, Florida State University Tallahassee, FL (1991). Provided assistance in constructing data entry software for databases designed to store information on the educational system of Namibia. Project Director: Conrad W. Snyder.

Ag Consulting, Inc., Mt. Dora, FL (1990 – present). Provided assistance in designing experiments and analyzing data investigating the effectiveness of herbicides and insecticides.
