Video Conferencing and Editing Resources for COE Faculty and Students
The tools listed below are available in the College of Education's Instructional Resources Center (IRC) and may be appropriate for some courses and programs within the College of Education. Checkout items are intended for both COE faculty and student use (under faculty supervision). Potential uses of these tools include:
- developing digital components of portfolios,
- Internet based conferencing, and
- Web development.
Technology-specific faculty training and support needs for these tools are available using the Center for Excellence in Teaching (681-0067 or 681-0078, Steve Bonham or Raleigh Way) and Distance Learning Center (681-0882, Robbie Ambler). Additional training and consulting may soon be available through the IRC as well.
1. Multi-Media Development PC (Windows XP Professional) in the IRC Lab. See photo of the system at http://coe.georgiasouthern.edu/foundations/dell_multimedia.jpg
- Video Editing and Capturing using the following software(a) Video Explosion or (b)Windows Movie Maker, or (c) Pinnacle Studio, and/or (d) Quicktime Pro [ (e) iMovie is also available on the Macintosh platform at the IRC]
- Firewire for capturing digital video

- Web Development Using (a) Dreamweaver MX or (b) Composer, and (c) Adobe Acrobat for PDF conversion of text and graphics files.
- Digital Photo Editing using Photoshop Elements.

- Video Conferencing location using Polycom Via Video Web Camera and Software.

- Can be installed in office and remote sites using USB port of computer (PC only)
- Can be used for desktop viewing/interaction for a distant meeting or presentation.
- Suitable for individualized student conferencing or observation (point-to-point, but not group)

3. Digital Video Camcorders for checkout at IRC desk.
- Mini Digital Video Cassettes and Memory Card for storage
- Motion Video or Still Photos
- Remote control for self-taping or photography
- Tripods
- Firewire for transfer.

4. Dell Laptop Computers for checkout at IRC desk.
- Video Capturing and Editing Capabilities
- Wireless and Ethernet ready
- Windows XP Professional Operating System

5. Wireless Microphone Systems for checkout at IRC desk.
- Can be used to digitally record presentations to a computer for playback via Internet
- Lavalier Microphone systems for presentations or conferencing
