Education General Background Prior to joining the faculty at Georgia
Southern in 2008, Teri Melton served in both the public and
private sectors in leadership, as well as teaching adolescents
and adults of all ages. She has lived and worked in New York,
Virginia, the Dominican Republic, Pennsylvania, and Florida During her career, she has been a faculty
member at Lehigh University and Barry University, and has also
served a served as the director (superintendent/ principal) of
an American international K-12 school in the Dominican Republic.
She co-authored four entries for the Encyclopedia of Social
and Cultural Foundations of Education, and is actively
engaged in the Building Engagement and Attainment of Minority
Students (BEAMS) national research project. She has presented at
various national conferences and provided staff development to
doctoral program faculty. Her current research interests focus
on the principalship and work-life balance in educational
leadership.
