ò Teach courses in the discipline of Developmental English, Reading, Study Skills, English composition and/or closely related fields.

ò Advise and tutor students needing support in English composition and applied composition.

ò Fulfill university service requirements consistent with faculty collective bargaining agreement, to include professional, university and community service.

ò Serve as liaison to Adult Learning Programs of Alaska (ALPA) and similar community organizations promoting student improvement in reading, writing, and study skills.

ò Assist with operation and development of TVC Learning Center services in collaboration with TVC and Department of Developmental Education colleagues and UAF Writing Center.

ò Take lead responsibility in redeveloping Developmental English program at TVC in light of new placement guidelines at UAF.

ò Participate as appropriate in outcomes assessments, program review, and accreditation-related activities.

Requirements:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

ò Successful experience in teaching writing;

ò Demonstrated success teaching under prepared learners at the post-secondary level;

ò Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of teaching students with non-traditional learning styles;

ò Experience in student assessment and curriculum development;

ò Demonstrated human relations and team skills.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

ò A minimum of a Master's Degree in English, Developmental Education, or related fields such as Creative Writing, English as a Second Language, or Education.

LENGTH OF TIME AND TYPE OF EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

ò Two years' teaching experience at the university, community college, or high school level.
