Director of Developmental Programs

Duties/Responsibilities:

Reports to the Vice President of Community College Affairs. Responsible for directing all aspects of the Developmental Education Program at WCCC, including hiring, training and evaluating staff, curriculum development, scheduling classes and staff, directing activities in the Student Learning Center, teaching developmental classes, administrating testing and assessments, and working with Mesa State College faculty and staff to assure that the student outcomes meet the expectations of the general education curriculum. Additional duties and responsibilities include:

Requirements:

This position requires an earned bachelor’s degree (master’s degree preferred) in education or other appropriate academic discipline from an accredited institution and significant experience in public school settings and the development of curriculum in remedial or developmental programs.  Five years teaching experience in developmental/remedial education at the college level is highly desirable. The director must possess a strong understanding of the value that developmental programs provide to individual students and higher education systems. Experience managing personnel and a student learning center at the community college level is highly desirable.
