Visiting Instructor of Developmental Mathematics

Duties/Responsibilities:
Adams State College invites applications for a one-year position teaching developmental mathematics at the Visiting Instructor level. We seek energetic and enthusiastic individuals who love teaching mathematics and share our dedication to students. The successful applicant will be teaching full-time for the 2008-09 academic year. Primary responsibilities include teaching 15 semester hours of developmental mathematics courses (approximately four courses) per semester. Other duties may include working on curriculum design and articulation issues; meeting regularly with peer tutors involved in developmental education; working with others to develop plans for students who are not successful in their developmental mathematics classes; participating in developmental program meetings and department meetings; and other duties as assigned by the department chair of the mathematics program.
Requirements:
An earned master's degree in mathematics, mathematics education, or a closely related field by the time of appointment is required. Experience teaching mathematics is required. Preference will be given to candidates with:
a demonstrated record of success teaching developmental mathematics.
