ESOL Faculty Position

Darton College, Albany, GA

Salary:

Duties/Responsibilities:  

·    Teaching ESOL and at least one of the following academic areas: Learning Support English or Learning Support Reading. Summer teaching under a separate contract optional.

·    Participating in the expansion of international education.

    ·    Teaching courses over interactive television and online.

    ·    Assisting in the recruitment of students.

    ·    Advising an assigned group of students.

·    Participating in division and college committees and projects.

·    Participating in community activities.

·    Continuing professional growth and development.

·    Participating in other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Required:

·    Master's degree in TESOL/ESOL

·    At least 18 graduate semester hours (27 graduate quarter hours) in Reading or English

                                                           OR

·    Master's degree in English or Reading

·    At least 18 graduate semester hours (27 graduate quarter hours) in TESOL/ESOL

                                                                     AND

·    Experience teaching ESOL

·    Commitment to the teaching and learning process in a two-year community college.

   ·     Computer literacy and use of technology for instruction.

Preferred:

·    Doctorate in appropriate field.    

·      Teaching experience with adult ESOL.                              

·    Experience with distance learning.

·    At least two years’ experience teaching at the college level

Contract Provisions:

·   Full-time, tenure track position available August 16, 2008 

·   Rank: Instructor or Assistant Professor

·   Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience

    ·  Faculty receive all benefits provided by the University System of Georgia, including hospital and major medical insurance, group life insurance, Georgia Teachers' Retirement System, Social Security, liability insurance, and Workman's Compensation
