DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Lead Instructional Services which includes the Math Resource Center, the Writing Center, Testing, and Supplemental Instruction. Responsible for all aspects of planning, budgeting, staffing, and assessment. Evaluate, oversee, and manage the work of the Writing Center Coordinator, 27 lecturers, 13 graduate assistants, 3 Civil Service personnel, and 28 student workers. Working with Academic Advising and SOAR, develop and maintain a strategic vision and plan for the effective academic support of all students at all levels. Determine and implement an enhancement of Instructional Services in all areas and programs (such as Summer Bridge and Upward Bound) and plan for the inclusion of the Speech Center when Instructional Services moves to the Student Success Center in Fall, 2009. Develop and implement a dedicated testing center in collaboration with academic departments.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: A terminal degree in an academic discipline is required with a doctorate in an area of education preferred. The position requires experience in one of the primary areas of instruction provided by the Office of Instructional Services and demonstrated administrative experience in academic support services. Must also demonstrate experience working with constituencies, both internal and external, to the University. Must be able to function as a generalist; have significant managerial ability, outstanding communication (both written and verbal) skills, strong budgetary skills, and excellent interpersonal skills.
