Duties/Responsibilities:

The Program Director reporting to the Assistant to the President of the Academic Opportunity Programs is responsible for working as the liaison with community agencies, faculty, staff and other administrators of the Boston Public School District. The Program Director will supervise a staff that includes 3 Educational Consultants and one Staff Assistant. This includes program evaluation, planning and implementation of both the Suffolk University Upward Bound and the Suffolk University McNair Scholar's students and programs. Also includes identification and recruitment of McNair Scholars, the administration and facilitation of academic and support services for the Scholars. Other responsibilities include ensuring the provision of counseling, advising, tutoring, mentoring and related academic support services.

Requirements: 

Bachelor's degree and Master's degree in counseling, education or related field. Demonstrated ability to work with and a strong commitment to the educational advancement of low-income, first generation students required. Must have demonstrated capability of being a team player and possess strong organizational, customer service, writing, and public speaking skills. Experience working in programs targeting talented, diverse, low-income first generation students will be considered. Demonstrated ability to work with and a strong commitment to the educational advancement of low-income, first generation students required. Qualifications Preferred: Familiarity with graduate admission assessments, previous experience working with TRiO programs; familiarity with grant-funded programs and ability to work within federal and state guidelines; personal experience in overcoming academic and economic obstacles. The position is contingent upon continuation of grant funding (currently funded through August 31, 2012).
