Duties/Responsibilities:
Position Information
Location: As assigned. Two positions: one position for Northridge Campus and one position for South Austin Campus.
Hours as assigned: Must maintain an established schedule. Some positions may also include evenings and weekends.
Job Purpose
To instruct students in Developmental Reading and Study Skills in accordance with College policy and procedures.

Description of Duties and Tasks
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Provides classroom instruction for Developmental Reading and Study Skills courses and contributes to the development of course objectives and curriculum for the department.
- Plans and organizes lesson plans, research and reference materials, syllabi, and other learning aids.
- Maintains office hours to assist students.
- Serves on college-wide and departmental committees.
- Participates in graduation, general assembly, and other official College functions.
- Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Department Chair, Dean, and/or Executive Vice President.

Must possess required knowledge and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.

- Possess knowledge of subject matter and related and/or relevant topics and issues in the teaching discipline.

Requirements:
Work Experience
Required
- Recent experience teaching Reading at a community college.
Education
Required
Master\'s degree in Reading Education or Master\'s degree in Education with a Reading specialist certification or Master\'s degree in a related field with 18 graduate hours in Reading plus recent experience teaching Reading at a community college and at least 3 graduate hours in Developmental Education and/or at least 1 year of secondary teaching experience.

Reliable transportation may be required for teaching in multiple campus locations.
