Stephen F. Austin State University is seeking applicants for Director of the Academic Assistance and Resource Center. The Academic Assistance and Resource Center (AARC) is a multi-disciplinary peer tutoring center comprised of four programs: Math, Content Studies, Writing, and Supplemental Instruction. The director is responsible for overseeing the development, delivery, marketing and analysis of the center's services. The director supervises four professional program directors and a support staff member. Over 100 student assistants are employed as peer tutors or Supplemental Instruction Group leaders. The center is certified at the "distinguished" level by NADE and has master level certification by CRLA. Recent awards include the John Champaign Memorial Award for Outstanding Developmental Education Program and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board Star Award. The director is responsible for establishing procedures for the center's operations, preparing detailed reports on activities, preparing the annual budget, and marketing the center to students, faculty, and parents. The AARC director reports to the library director and serves on committees as appointed.

Master's degree and experience in college teaching required. Experience in college-level peer tutoring center required. Experience working with diverse student populations such as students with disabilities, non-traditional students, and students on academic probation is required. Knowledge of academic skills development required as well as knowledge of academic success and/or college retention programs. Requires the ability to organize data in order to evaluate and assess programs and to make budgetary and policy decisions.
