Duties/Responsibilities: Position Summary:
Lone Star College-Tomball is an innovative and dynamic community college located northwest of Houston in Tomball, Texas. It is one of five colleges that comprise the Lone Star College System, one of the fastest growing community college districts in the state. The faculty member\'s role encompasses the general areas of learning facilitation, personal and professional development, and institutional and community service. Primary responsibilities are to plan, develop, and teach courses within the curriculum in a manner that facilitates student learning.
Requirements: Required Qualifications/Education Campus Specific:
Master's Degree in Mathematics, or a Master's Degree and 18 graduate hours in Mathematics. Experience using innovative strategies and technology in developmental mathematics and college algebra courses.
Demonstrated interest and/or experience with diversity, interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, course development, and adult learning methodologies including collaborative learning, learning communities and distance learning.
Distance education certification or a commitment to obtain certification through Lone Star College System (or equivalent) within 12 months of employment. Teaching experience (secondary or higher education) Experience using a variety of delivery methods and technologies.
Preferred Qualifications/Education:
Specialized developmental education certification. Bi-lingual. Community college teaching experience. Prior experience teaching developmental mathematics. Experience working in a Learning Assistance Center. Demonstrated commitment to academic excellence, exceptional service and dynamic climate for lifelong learning. Demonstrated commitment of multi-cultural and multi-generational diversity. Demonstrated interest and/or experience with interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, collaborative learning, learning communities and distance learning
Active participation in professional organizations.
