Add-On Certificate in Reading

For students who have already obtained a master's degree in another teaching field, there is no need to earn a second master's simply to obtain the P-12 Certificate in Reading. The Add-on Certificate in Reading will meet their needs. The Add-on requires four courses: the three courses needed for the Reading Endorsement (READ 7131, READ 7132, and READ 7330) plus a fourth course, READ 7230 Issues and Trends in Reading. Together, these are the four Reading courses required in the M.Ed. program. Thus, a student seeking the Add-on will take the same core Reading courses as those who earn the M.Ed. It is important to note that students seeking the Add-on must not only take these four courses but must also pass the GACE Exam for Reading Specialists.
