Research Groups

Democracy and Education Research Group
The group is open to anyone in the COE who is interested in democratic education, social justice, and related concepts. The group has drafted a mission statement and a research plan. Co-leaders emerged from the group, Alejandro Gallard and Michelle Reidel. The next meeting will be Friday, Nov. 2, 2:00 pm, in the Dean's Conference Room (COE 1100J) at which time the group will discuss two books that they have read to help frame the research project as well as selected information from the IDEA website. Please direct your questions about the next meeting or about the group to Drs. Gallard or Reidel.
Eagle QuaRC Qualitative Research Community
Open to all qualitative researchers across campus, please contact Christopher Brkich (cbrkich@georgiasouthern.edu) with questions and/or to suggest topics.
The next meeting will be March 8, 12:00 noon - 4:00 p.m., Eagle QuaRC Qualitative Research Works-in-Progress Workshop. Based on our community's identified needs and wants, we will be hosting four consecutive 45-minute workshop sessions to provide advice and guidance on qualitative research projects currently underway. Our sessions are aimed at faculty and students alike, and will be guided by expert professors on the following topics:
1. Epistemological self-awareness & defining one's research interests and questions
2. Research design along with framework and methodology selection
3. Data collection and analysis guidance with YOUR IRB-approved data sets
4. Writing boot camp-refining one's product, from initial drafts to publication
