Program Links

Beginning in the Fall of 2017, the B.S.Ed. in Secondary Education program for undergraduate students will lead to initial certification in secondary education (grades 6-12).

For foreseeable future, this program will be limited to the following academic subjects: Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, or Physics.

The program will consist of :

    • Coursework in the major field of study,
    • Methodology courses addressing academic instruction, and
    • Core coursework in professional education.

Upper division (junior/senior-level) coursework in this new B.S.Ed. in Secondary Education will not begin until Fall 2018.

During this secondary-level teaching degree program, you will be well-prepared with excellent teaching skills.  You will have many experiences in a variety of public school classrooms prior to the student teaching semester. All field experiences, including student teaching, take place within a 60 mile radius of the Georgia Southern campus. Explore more of the program outcomes.

Upon successful completion of the program and passing the Secondary Education GACE exam, you will qualify for Georgia’s secondary teacher induction certification at the T-4 level.
