Team Lori and COE raises over $15k for Relay for Life

When the festivities of Bulloch County’s 2017 Relay for Life were concluded on Friday, April 28, Team Lori and the College of Education (COE) had not only met but exceeded their goal set for fundraising activities.

With a total of $15,376 raised by the team members and fundraising events, Team Lori and COE topped their goal of meeting last year’s fundraising total of approximately $12,000. The team hosted a chili sale as well as hot dog lunches along with their annual silent auction fundraiser to help gather funds for the American Cancer Society.

“We have a new record,” said Lori Wiggins, team captain and Bulloch County Relay co-chair. “Team Lori and COE raised an impressive amount of money were the top fundraisers of any college team.”

The team was also represented for the Relay event’s “Whip Cancer with a Pie-in-the-Face” fundraiser. Over $500 was raised to see John Ramfjord, associate director of annual giving for the COE, receive a pie in the face from five-year-old Morgan Draper, daughter for faculty member Christine Draper. “I want to thank everyone for their support,” said Wiggins. “I am looking forward to the 2017-2018 Relay year and expanding our team to additional COE faculty and staff and exceeding our new fundraising record!”

Wiggins is serving a two-year term of co-chair for the Bulloch County Relay alongside Chris Wiggins of Sea Island Bank. The 2017 Relay for Life fundraising grand totals for Bulloch County were over $110,000.
