2018 Interdisciplinary STEM Teaching & Learning Conference to take place at the Coastal Georgia Center

Georgia Southern University’s College of Education and Institute of Interdisciplinary STEM Education will host the 2018 Interdisciplinary Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Teaching & Learning Conference March 23-24 at the Coastal Georgia Center in Savannah, Georgia.

The conference will engage student-centered best practices and provide a forum for discussing and showcasing the latest advancements in STEM teaching and learning. Participants are invited from all University System of Georgia and Southeast regional colleges and universities, private higher education institutions, research institutions and K-12 schools.

Myles Boylan, Ph.D., and Robert Hodgdon, Ph.D., are this year’s keynote speakers. Boylan has been the program director for the Division of Undergraduate Education at the National Science Foundation (NSF) for more than 10 years. He co-leads programs to improve STEM education and increase institutional transformation.

Hodgdon is a 26-year educator, serving students in roles ranging from social studies teacher to behavioral intervention specialist. In addition to teaching seventh-grade life science at Richmond Hill Middle School for the past 13 years, he is a regular contributor to the Georgia Science Teacher Association eObservations monthly newsletter.

Conference attendees will have an opportunity to experience a variety of interactive sessions and workshops centered on K-12 and collegiate STEM resources, tools and strategies. Attendees will be able to interact with STEM poster presenters, network with other STEM professionals and meet the conference speakers.
