The College of Education offers a B.S.Ed. in Elementary Education certification degree program for those interested in becoming an elementary education teacher.
The face-to-face program is designed for students who desire to gain knowledge and skills to teach all subjects at the elementary level including kindergarten through fifth grade. Students may choose to obtain a single certification in elementary education or dual certification combining elementary and special education. The program provides numerous opportunities for students to apply their knowledge and skills in elementary classroom experiences and student teaching placements. Elementary education faculty are dedicated to working with area schools and mentors to provide a rich learning environment allowing students to gain the content knowledge needed to enhance children’s learning.
Upon successful completion of the program and passing either the Elementary Education or the Dual Certification GACE exam, and the edTPA portfolio, the student will qualify for Georgia’s P-5 teacher induction certification.
