Office of Field Experiences and Clinical Practice

Field experiences and culminating clinical practice are integral components of all initial educator preparation programs in the College of Education at Georgia Southern University. The Office of Field Experience and Clinical Practice facilitates all field experiences and coordinates clinical practice in partner schools in collaboration with the various departments, public schools (Clinical Associates and Clinical Supervisors) and international partners.

The College has strong long standing collaborative partnerships with P-12 schools to provide a wide-range of field experience and clinical practice sites for teacher candidates. Teacher candidates receive diverse field experiences within a 70 mile radius of either Georgia Southern campus. (This policy does not apply to candidates in the fully online MAT programs in Elementary Ed., Health and Physical Ed., Spanish Ed., and Special Education.)  Formal agreements are signed annually between the College of Education and school districts to identify the roles and responsibilities for each partner involved in field experiences. Please visit the field experience placement policies web page for Initial Teacher Preparation program policies and procedures. For information regarding clinical practice, visit the clinical practice experience web page.
