MAT Transcript Evaluation

Master of Arts in Teaching Transcript Evaluation

Transcript Evaluation Icon

Applicants interested in the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program in Middle Grades, Secondary, Special Education, or Spanish will have their transcripts evaluated as part of the application process to ensure content and GPA requirements are satisfied to begin the MAT program.  The transcript evaluation is not required for applicants to the Elementary Education or Health & Physical Education programs, but GPA requirements must still be satisfied.

The official transcript evaluation will occur after an application has been submitted with all transcripts attached to the application.

Each concentration area will be listed below with the course content and GPA requirements. Use the information below as a guide before applying. Any additional prerequisite content course work must be completed as a non-degree student before your admission into the program. If you have any questions about taking additional coursework to satisfy prerequisite course content or GPA requirements, please contact the Graduate Academic Services Center for more information. Disclaimer: Self-evaluation of your transcripts does not guarantee eligibility to begin the program and only the formal transcript evaluation during the application process will determine this. Program and course requirements may vary based on course substitutions or program director review.

Any questions or concerns can be addressed to the Graduate Academic Services Center at gasc@georgiasouthern.edu.

GPA Requirements

All MAT concentrations require applicants to have an overall GPA of 2.50 or higher. Overall GPA is calculated with all grades earned from all institutions, even excluded grades on transcripts. Applicants are encouraged to use GPA calculators found online to calculate their overall GPA if there are any concerns about meeting the overall GPA requirement. All MAT concentrations require applicants to have a content GPA of 2.75. The content GPA is calculated from the specific content related courses.
