M.A.T. Teaching Program Outcomes

Student Learning Outcomes (SLO)

SLO1: Graduates of the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program will be able to demonstrate in-depth content knowledge in order to support P-12 students’ learning in their respective P-12 content areas.
SLO2: Graduates of the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program will be able to apply professional skills and dispositions required for initial teacher certification in P-12 student learning environments. These professional skills and dispositions include collaboration with others, maintaining consistent positive attitudes, having positive relationships with adults (e.g., parents, colleagues, staff, administrators), effective communication, adherence to attendance policies, positive relationships with P-12 students, evidence of initiative, appropriate professional appearance, and engaging in legal and ethical behaviors.
SLO3: Prior to the completion of the final clinical practice, students in the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program will be able to plan and implement appropriate curricula and instructional practices that reflect a knowledge of individual P-12 learner differences and development, reflect on their own personal biases, and engage with diverse P-12 students and their families.
SLO4: Prior to the completion of the final clinical practice, students in the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program will be able to demonstrate the use of evidence-based practices and classroom management strategies to plan, implement, assess and reflect on instruction across all rubric criteria on the Intern Keys assessment (professional knowledge, instructional planning, instructional strategies, differentiated instruction, assessment strategies, assessment uses, positive learning environment, academically challenging environment, professionalism, and communication).
