Robert Mayes, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Middle Grades and Secondary Education, published an article in the International Journal of Engineering Pedagogy earlier this year. The article, titled “Interdisciplinary STEM through Engineering Design-based Reasoning,” describes the Real STEM Project, a collaboration with 12 schools to develop and implement middle and high school stem programs. Focus is also placed on engineering design-based reasoning, as this is typically a driving force for STEM programs.
