STEM Ambassadors

The STEM Ambassadors are a group of diverse and enthusiastic students who proudly represent Georgia Southern to the public, both on and off campus. STEM Ambassadors serve as the face of the College of Education and the Institute for Interdisciplinary STEM Education in a variety of ways, including:

  • Special outreach events such as STEMFest, Science Olympiad, and Science To-Go
  • Assistance with various STEM nights at local schools
  • STEM Experience programs for prospective students
  • Students will benefit in many ways – both personally and professionally – during their time as an ambassador. This includes:
  • Learning more about programs offered at Georgia Southern University
  • Networking with faculty and professionals from across campus
  • Attending team meetings that focus on STEM Education
  • Working in a team environment with a diverse group of individuals
  • Gaining valuable presentation and critical thinking skills
Requirements:
  • Have and maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Participate in the fall and spring training retreats

New Member Recruitment

New member recruitment takes place at the start of the summer/fall semester each year. All students interested in becoming a STEM Ambassador must submit a new member application and letter of recommendation form to be considered for membership. Following the application and letter of recommendation form review, candidates are invited to participate in an interview. Students selected to become STEM Ambassadors will begin their service training and be expected to start service hours by the middle of the fall semester. All STEM Ambassadors are also required to attend the fall training at the beginning of the semester.
